NCHA/AQHA was a great success with lots of entries, prizes, and food and fellowship!

Thank you to everyone who brought a "pot luck" dish for the dinner on Saturday. The meat was donated by Kelli Caves, Burt and KC Townsend, Sharon Overstreet and Kathy and Danny Carbaugh. And as always Danny did a great job of cooking, especially the collard greens! We had a large variety of delicious side dishes and I think everyone that attended had a great time. We hope to have more special events like this to bring the club together for some fun after the shows.

I hope all of you know by now that FCHA won Affiliate of the Year from the NCHA for 2013. Along with the recognition at the NCHA Convention, our club will receive $2500. I can't say enough about the work that Nancy Turner, Pam Scott, and Amy Scott put in on our presentation. This is not an easy award to win. Our affiliate raised money for charities, established the Level 1 Awards Program, developed the Kayo Welles Memorial Cutting, and many other projects throughout the year. Thanks to all of you for the efforts. It is nice to be recognized on a national level.

The Youth Committee held a "Lead Line" and "Walk Trot Class" that was a real hit with the young folks. We had a good turnout and it was nice to see the cutting find a way to include the youngest of our future cutters. Thanks to Bobbi Sheffield and all the moms and dads that helped. The youth cutters did a good job of judging.

We also had a good amount of participants in the AQHA Classes. Thanks to all of you that entered and hopefully you were able to earn some points toward the World Show.

Richard Elenberger, owner of the Rocking RCH Ranch, LLC, generously awarded an extra cash bonus for the 1st and 2nd place horses in the $2000 Ltd and $15,000 AM classes.

Dusty Bass has been working with us and we have found a way to add some additional stalls. We will continue to work on more solutions to accommodate everyone, but it will always help to get your reservations into Kathy Carbaugh as soon as you can.

FCHA has several members that are competing in the NON PRO plus The OPEN in Oklahoma City and the NCHA Summer Spectacular and Youth Scholarship Cutting. We wish them all the best of luck.

The National Directors from Florida will be attending the NCHA Convention June 20th - June 22nd. We will have a FCHA directors meeting after we return. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will discuss decisions made at the convention. Watch this website for the time and place.

During our October Show, FCHA will have a HORSE FLEA MARKET AND SWAP MEET. Bring a table, set up with any horse related equipment, tack, boots, hats, saddles, pads, western housewares, etc. Bring western art, furniture, jewelry, or anything as long as it is western, cow or horse oriented. You may sell it, swap it, or just give it away, all at no cost to you. We will set up the tables in the area around the show office. The FCHA will have a "grab barrel" of extra past awards and things we have for $5.00 and our proceeds will go toward the Youth Scholarship Fund. Let's make this fun and hopefully your trash will be another man's treasure!

Keep riding your horses, and we will start cutting again in Sept. Have a fun and safe summer everyone.

See you at the cutting,

Sharon Overstreet

2014 President
